Howdy!  Sorry that things are a bit slow just now.  It's really down to the usual causes -

1) RS has started imposing absolutely insane limitations.  This has been a source of irritation all around.
2) Blogger has made changes which have forced me to write the html for all of the posts for the past several months one at a time - by hand - rather than through the usual means that I enjoyed for years.  What an enormous pain.
3) We got to the end of my PF audio collection.  I was going to start sharing DVDs, but see reason #1.
 4) My RS account is just about to expire.  Not planning to renew, because of reason #1.
5) Blogger won't allow me to add additional subscribers to the blog.  It's now open to the public - which I did not want to do, which is why we moved over from JAC in the first place.
 6) I have been working entirely too much.
7) Not many people were downloading.  Each show is being downloaded fewer than 10 times.

I think that I will start cataloging shows by Gandalf Murphy.  I have hundreds of them lying around.  They're in need.

I would love to continue to be a resource for anyone looking for PF material.  Please just contact me & we'll work out the details.

Not sure how this one escaped being posted earlier...

The Surrogate Band - 2005-12-03 - Kalamazoo, MI

Part 1
Part 2

** This was a show at Bell's Brewery.  It was indoors, due to the weather.  (They have a large outdoor stage for the Summer months.)  Great show.  Lots of deep cuts.  On An Island had recently been released & I remember asking Alex to play a track from the album.  They didn't.  *sigh*

For a relatively limited time, you will be able to download both of the 2005 Surrogate Band Shows Here.

The Surrogate Band - 2005-08-06

Part 1
Part 2

** This recording came to me by way of the band's drummer.  He didn't write anything on the audio CDs apart from the date.  There are some groovy deep cuts in the first set.  Check out the set list in the comments.

The Surrogate Band - 2006-07-28 - Cavern Club, Ann Arbor, MI

Here

** I had a friend, Uncle Jed, during these wild & heady times.  I'd completely forgotten that he attended this show.  He took a pile of photos, which I have just discovered in the archives.  Therefore, I have replace the generic image above with one taken at the actual concert in question.

The Surrogate Band is a Pink Floyd tribute  that plays largely in the Michigan / Ohio area of the USA.  I was lucky enough to go to approximately 10 of their shows.

They play long, extended sets.  This show was no exception.  Excluding the 2x20 min breaks, the show lasted for a little over 3 hours.

For this particular show, my friend, Kris, wanted to make sure that it was recorded.  We had heard that they were planning to play all of Piper At The Gates Of Dawn in tribute to Mr. Barrett, who had recently passed.

Kris knew the audio tech who was going to do the show.  However, the nature of the (relatively primitive) equipment prevented a board recording.  So, Kris set up four microphones and at least 2 digital recorders.  Then - he left.  He had to go back to work!

The band's first set was the complete Animals album.  Set 2 was Piper.  Set 3 was a "Greatest Hits" set.  They finished at around 2:00am, if memory serves.

There were at least 2 video cameras present.  I tried trading with one of the tapers, but he never came through for me.  Rotten hoarder!!

Kris gave me this show 3 times.  1) Complete, unedited recording.  2) same thing, but edited into "Set 1", "Set 2", "Set 3".  3) Same as 2, but in "Nero" format

I checked all three versions & they are from the same recorder.  They all have these weird digital drop-outs during the last song.  Not sure what that's about.

I took the giant, unedited .wav file & used CDWave to create tracks for each song.  I left the soundcheck intact, but cut out the intermissions.  They were nothing but audience chatter, of course.

The Surrogate Band's drummer & a guitar player changed & they emerged as "Echoes Of Pink Floyd".  They are planning to play the entire Pompeii concert in about a week's time at a place called The Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI.  If you go, please record the show!!

PF - 1972 - Blu-Ray

Just being a little sneaky, recycling the cover art again for the latest incarnation of this film. Please see the comments for details.

If you do not have a BR burner, you may wish to pass on this one...  Or, just keep it on a hard drive for The Future, if you plan to get a burner eventually.

** The movie had a huge internet presence.  Thought this compilation of promotional material was lost forever...  Just found it in a pile of rubbish.  I am sure that I made a different version, with even more trailers & mini documentaries.  But, it's never turned up.  This will have to do in the meantime.

** A kind reader wrote to say that he had a different version of this release.  I posted my version here. One of the first things that you'll probably notice is that the "new" version has a different date.  Additionally, the track listing appears slightly changed.  This one doesn't come with an information file, however, so perhaps it would be best to just present it as I got it & hope that you'll enjoy & leave comments with your discoveries.
